Hi, I’m David Cross, founder and owner of Meraki Woodcraft. I started Meraki Woodcraft in 2020, bringing together more than thirty years of experience in the timber industry to create handcrafted, sustainable furniture made with care, purpose and integrity.
From our Cheshire workshop, we design, craft and deliver handcrafted furniture for the home, made to order using reclaimed and sustainable timbers.
We make dining tables, benches, storage, shelving and architectural pieces, all designed to work together and fit seamlessly into the way you live. Clients are invited to take part in the process, from shaping the design to finalising finishes, ensuring furniture that feels personal, considered and built to last.
Our furniture is typically ready within 4–6 weeks and is backed by a satisfaction guarantee. We also offer an unusual buy-back scheme, allowing pieces to be repurposed and continue their life if your needs change.
Before Meraki, I spent three decades specialising in the crafting and finishing of luxury wooden floors for high-end clients, interior designers and private residences. The work often involved sourcing rare and reclaimed timbers from around the world, working closely with machining partners and managing complex, high-value projects.
Over that time, I learned not just how to create exceptional products, but how important it is to do things properly – ethically, sustainably and with long-term thinking. Meraki Woodcraft is the result of applying those lessons to furniture making.
Meraki is built around three founding values: Sustainability, Creativity and Contribution.
These values guide every decision we make – from the materials we choose, to how we work with clients, to the kind of business we want to build. After years working in larger corporate environments, I wanted to create a business that prioritised long-term responsibility, creative input and positive impact, and that others might look to as a model in the future.
If you’re looking for sustainable, handcrafted furniture with genuine creative input and guaranteed craftsmanship, we’d love to welcome you to the workshop and design studio.
