Brushed Dining Table

The dining table is the hub of the home. It’s a place to work, to study, to craft, to come together with our families and friends to plan or share the day, entertain or to just sit, relax and chat over a coffee.

So it’s really important that your dining table perfectly fits your specific requirements. That’s why at Meraki, we don’t start making a table until you’ve designed it.

We’ve set things up so that you specify the exact table size, leg style, colour and surface texture you want, only then do we use our experience and expertise to start handcrafting it. Each table is made to order using sustainable European Oak and is then ready to be delivered 4-6 weeks later.

We’re always on hand to answer any questions you may have and encourage you to visit our Warrington Design Studio and workshop where you can view all our sizes, leg styles and tonal options.

Part of the Collection

Inspired by the timeless charm of classic farmhouse tables, our Brushed Collection introduces a texture that not only feels delightful to the touch but also looks elegant.

We start with carefully chosen wide boards, all with lively character, using a blend of prime and nature-grade European oak. We then gently remove the soft summer growth from each board, to reveal a distinctive texture that highlights the grain under natural light.

The boards are then finished using one of our eco-friendly hardwax oils which contain no solvents, are food friendly, hardwearing and easily maintained.

The Size that works best for you

You need to choose the size which will work both for your room and your practical needs. Popular lengths are 1600mm, 1800mm and 2000mm, which comfortably seat 6 – 8 people and allow for seating spaces of 600mm – 800mm per person.

A minimum table width of 875mm allows for seating either side and serving plates in the centre, however it is not unusual for clients to ask for narrower widths on smaller sizes and wider widths on larger sizes – or even square or triangular tables. To keep the width to length ratio visually balanced it’s also common to go to a wider size of 1000mm wide when the table becomes 2000mm long.

Also take into consideration the space required to pull out chairs or benches comfortably. Generally, 800mm – 1000mm around the perimeter of your table is a good guideline.

Whatever size you require you can feel rest assured that we’ll make it to both fit your space and be functional for your family.

The Leg Style that matches your design and needs

X-Frame Legs

X-Frame Legs are a popular space saving choice by maximising the seating space on all sides.

Square Frame Legs bring a contemporary aspect to a room and can be set closer to the end of the table to accommodate extra seating along the sides.

A-Frame Legs bring a classic appearance to a table and depending on table size, can accommodate seating all around the table or simply down the sides.

Trapezium Frame Legs bring a contemporary appearance to a table and can also be fixed closer to the ends to maximise seating capacity.

Spider Frame Legs are our most popular leg option, and whilst being more expensive than other options, are best for maximising space and seating capacity.

Please note these are only available In Steel.

Table legs must be both aesthetically pleasing to look at and offer practicality when in use. The placement of table legs is equally as important and can be set to accommodate your seating plans.

We produce legs in five different design-led styles. Each has different benefits and can be crafted in steel, painted Redwood and European Oak in a virtually unlimited number of colours. All the legs we supply arrive with felt pads to prevent damage and scratches to your flooring.

There will be many factors that go into selecting the right tonal option for your dining table and when done correctly it’ll help pull everything together.

Considerations should be the physical space you have available, the natural light entering the room, other furniture tones, and the textures of any soft furnishings or accessories that’ll be sharing the same space.

Size & Lighting in The Room

The natural light that flows into your dining room is the first step in determining which tonal options will work best. If your room is small and doesn’t get enough sunlight, consider lighter tones to lift the area, make it feel lighter and more spacious.  Likewise, if your space is larger with lots of light, consider a darker tone with lighter walls and make it a statement piece.

The Design Scheme of The Room

The second step is to contemplate the colour scheme of the room. Think in terms of temperature.

Paint colours often give a feeling of warmth or cold.  Current trends are using colours of whites, neutrals, greens, and blues.  White & Blue can feel cooler in temperature and often lend themselves to darker brown furniture tones.

Greens feel a little warmer and work well with both neutrals and honey tones.  Accessorised well neutral-coloured tables also work with neutral wall colours.

When selecting a tonal option its also good to have splashes of the same colour in the form of other items of free-standing furniture, shelving, and accessories to help pull everything together.

Avoid trying to match kitchen cabinetry or flooring as it’ll all blend and the table will appear lost.  Consider opting for two tones darker or complimenting other items of furniture in the same space.
